City of El Paso Expansion of Public Health Laboratory

Repurposing and renovating an existing vacant industrial building to expand the City’s laboratory for COVID 19 testing. Improvements include providing new Biosafety Level 1, 2, 3 laboratories, and support spaces including new laboratory casework, new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, IT/MDF room, electrical rooms for UPS equipment, electrical panels and mechanical rooms for new air handlers and boiler equipment. Structural supports and roof patching for new rooftop mechanical equipment. Site improvements including new steel stairs and accessible ramp, masonry wall, steel gate enclosure for new chillers and new concrete pads for a back-up generator and mobile BSL-3 laboratory trailer and new exterior lighting along exterior walls and parking lot areas. Inventory, transfer, storage and installation of laboratory equipment for the new facility.
